AI visibility for Trades and Home Services

When someone asks AI for a good local tradie, are you on the shortlist, or is it a competitor?

Your next customer might ask ChatGPT for a plumber before they ever open Google.

More people are asking AI assistants who to hire for local work, and AI answers with a couple of names. This is a plain-English guide to being one of them, written for busy operators, not technical experts.

How customers ask now

Your next customer might ask AI first.

Not searching. Asking. In your market it sounds like this:

Who is a reliable emergency plumber near me?Best electrician in Robina?Who does solar on the Gold Coast?Who can come out today for a hot water leak?

AI hands back two or three names. If yours is not one of them, you were never in the running, and you never hear about the job you lost.

What AI needs

What AI needs before it names a tradie.

AI recommends the businesses it can describe with confidence. In your industry, that means it can confirm:

  • What you actually do, in plain words
  • The suburbs and areas you really cover
  • That you are licensed and insured
  • Recent, genuine reviews
  • How fast you respond and whether you do callouts
  • The same phone number and details everywhere online
Where businesses go missing

Where good operators drop off the list.

None of these mean you are bad at the work. They mean AI cannot tell. The common gaps:

  • Services written as we do everything, with no specifics
  • No clear service area, or fake pages for suburbs you do not cover
  • Licence and insurance never stated on the site
  • A handful of old reviews, or none at all
  • A phone number and business name that differ across the web
  • No answer to do you do emergency callouts, or what it costs
Vague vs useful

Vague copy costs you the callout.

Trade

BAD  “We offer a full range of quality electrical solutions tailored to your needs.”

BETTER  “We do commercial electrical maintenance, switchboard upgrades and solar for warehouses, factories and retail sites across the Gold Coast and Brisbane. Licensed and insured, with same-day callouts where available.”

Service area

BAD  “Servicing all areas, no job too big or small.”

BETTER  “We cover Burleigh, Robina, Nerang and the northern Gold Coast for emergency and scheduled plumbing, with same-day callouts where available.”

AI needs specifics. So do the customers reading the same page.
What to fix first

Where to start, in order.

You do not need everything at once. This is the order that usually moves the needle:

01
State your services and suburbs plainly

Say exactly what you do and where, in the words a customer would use. Drop the we do everything line.

02
Put your licence and insurance on the site

Make your licence number, insurance and any accreditations easy to find. It is proof AI and customers both look for.

03
Get recent reviews flowing

A steady stream of recent, genuine reviews is some of the strongest proof you can have. Ask every happy customer, on the platforms that matter.

04
Make your details consistent

Same business name, phone and address on your site, your Google Business Profile and every directory. Every mismatch lowers confidence.

05
Answer the questions buyers ask

Emergency callouts, response times, typical costs, areas covered, licensed and insured. Put the answers on the page.

FAQ

Common questions

Do I need a fancy website for this?

No. You need a clear one. Plain pages that state your services, areas, licence and proof do more for AI visibility than an expensive design that says very little.

We get most work by word of mouth. Does this matter?

Word of mouth is now partly digital. When someone is referred to you they check you online, and increasingly they ask AI too. If it cannot confirm you, the referral can go cold.

How do I know where I stand right now?

Run the free AI Visibility Check. It shows what AI can confirm about your business, where you go missing and what to fix first, in plain English.
